A shiny complexion usually means that you have an oily complexion. But this is not always the case. What else can cause shiny skin and how can you deal with it? We tell you in this article.

Causes of shiny skin

A common reason for a shiny face is too much sebum secretion. It is worth remembering, however, that the mere fact of its production is not bad. However, when the body produces too much sebum, the skin starts to shine.

The cause of glowing skin may also be a wrong diet. There may be deficiencies of vitamins in the body: A, B2 and B6. Vitamin A is very often used in cosmetic products, because it delays the skin aging process. It makes the skin firmer and less shiny.

Genetic factors and stress can also contribute to shiny skin.

How to get a shiny complexion

The right cosmetics

Every skin type needs the right care. People whose skin is prone to shine should avoid alcohol-based products. Most often these cosmetics are strongly degreasing and although at the beginning they eliminate excess sebum, after some time they intensify its production. Preparations of this type irritate and dry the skin. It is also better to avoid cosmetics containing paraffin, petroleum jelly or mineral oil. They create a layer on the skin, through which the skin cannot breathe. In case of problems with glowing skin, cosmetics for acne-prone skin are also discouraged.

On the other hand, it is worth using mattifying creams and those that regulate the secretion of sebum and have an anti-inflammatory effect. Once a week it is good to use masks and cleansing scrubs. People with a shiny complexion should also use mattifying powders and foundations. It is not worth reaching for illuminating cosmetics, but use a mineral foundation.

Light make-up

Too much cosmetics can weigh down and clog pores. Before applying color cosmetics, it is a good idea to use a light moisturizing cream. It is also a good idea to pat off excess sebum on blotting papers before applying makeup. This will help mattify your skin.

Proper diet

Eating the right foods is good for your skin. You should eat raw fruits and vegetables, natural yogurt and fresh herbs. Lack of adequate minerals and vitamins can exacerbate skin problems, so it is worth reaching for, for example, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, eggs, whole grain bread, milk and dairy products.

It is also worth drinking an infusion of sage. It will help cleanse the skin and reduce its shine. It is also worth washing your face with such an infusion from time to time

Hypoallergenic powder

Bed linen washed in strong agents may cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. It is advisable to wash your bedding and clothes in mild powder. This may help to eliminate skin lesions.

Home preparations

A homemade lemon tonic (a mixture of water and lemon juice) can reduce oily skin and help fight blackheads. Besides, tonics prepared from thyme or field horsetail will be good. Such homemade cosmetics have a cleansing and toning effect on the complexion.

Regular exercise

Exercising stimulates blood circulation and this, in turn, influences that it reaches the pores faster and unblocks them. However, it is important to exercise regularly, at least twice a week.

Don’t touch your face

Some people have a habit of frequently touching, wiping their face with their hand. However, it has a negative effect on the complexion. It results in the transfer of bacteria, but also stimulates the sebaceous glands.
