Leather shoes, handbags, wallets or other accessories are characterized by durability and resistance to damage, and they are also very stylish. However, if you want your leather products to serve you for many years, it is worth taking proper care of them. We suggest how to take care of them properly.

Storing leather products

A very important issue, when it comes to taking care of leather products, is undoubtedly their proper storage. It is best to store them in a dark place with the temperature between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius. It is also important that the humidity does not exceed 70%. You should also pay attention to the amount of dust present in the storage area. This will prevent dirt from getting into your clothes and accessories. It is also a good idea to store your leather clothes in covers that do not impede ventilation, as this has a negative impact on the appearance and condition of the leather

Cleaning and maintenance of leather clothes and shoes

For leather to look beautiful, it is necessary to clean and maintain it regularly. How to do it in the case of clothes and shoes such as women’s boots? For occasional use of leather items, leather oils, oil protectors and aerosols work well. If the material is frequently used, it is worth protecting it with a grease impregnation. This will make the material more supple and soft, and also support its water resistance. If the dirt is very heavy, you may want to use a dishwashing liquid to clean the leather. However, if the dirt is very strong, it is worth using the services of a dry cleaner.

In the case of suede, it is necessary to clean it with a soft rubber brush. It is also recommended to use spray for suede to enhance the effect. Remember also that this material does not like water and it is very easy to get it wet

Leather handbags – how to take care of them?

In case of leather handbags, care should start with regular vacuuming of the material. Rubbing the track with a cloth soaked in turpentine and rubbing it with a shoe polish may also prove to be beneficial, as it will help the bag maintain its sheen

A bit different is a case of lacquered bags, which are much more sensitive to weather changes and extreme temperatures. If you want to clean such bag, start with gentle wiping with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. Remember also to dry it thoroughly. A homemade way to refresh the varnished bag is to apply on its surface raw egg white beaten to foam combined with onion juice. Such a simple treatment will smoothen and add gloss to the surface.

Leather wallet care

Just as we care for leather shoes, handbags, or clothing, it is necessary to care for the wallet. In order to keep your women’s leather wal let for many years, you should use a special polish for renovation and restoration – after all, sharp objects in your bag, such as keys or small coins, can damage and scratch the material. Also, remember not to put too many items in it, especially too many coins, as they can distort and stretch the leather the wallet is made of.
