How do I care for my curly hair?

Curly hair is considered one of the more difficult types to care for. Most often, it is highly porous and tends to open its cuticles too much. Inadequately washed and conditioned hair may therefore quickly become dull and rough and frizzy. How do we make sure that the hair stays twisted and well-groomed?

If you want to take good care of your hair, you should first of all keep an eye on it and see what is good for it. The uneven structure of curly hair makes it prone to moisture loss. In this way, it is easier to avoid the effect of dull, brittle, frizzy and prone to mechanical injury hair. Every hair is different, so you need to carefully observe them to meet their specific requirements.

How to wash and dry curly hair?

Curly hair is very fragile and therefore easily damaged. It is therefore important to wash your hair very carefully. It is best to avoid silicone-containing shampoos, which weigh hair down.

When choosing the right shampoo, focus on products that are suitable for curly hair. Always apply the product in a gentle, circular motion so as not to break your hair. Do not rub your hair excessively. Rinse with a cool stream of water to close the cuticles. This also helps your hair stay fresh longer

After shampooing, towel dry your hair, gently patting it dry without rubbing it, just as you would when applying cosmetics. It is a good idea to apply a leave-in conditioner or serum to damp curls. Always comb your hair while it is still damp. Forget dry brushing as it is more susceptible to damage. It is also harder to maintain a proper curl and it is much easier to achieve the effect of frizz and damaged hair

It is best to use a wide-toothed comb to comb through your hair. In this case, wooden ones will work best, as they don’t cause your hair to electrify like plastic ones do. It’s best to let your well groomed hair dry on its own. However, if you must blow dry your hair with a hair dryer, make sure to choose a hair dryer with an ionic function and never use hot air.

Instead, choose lukewarm air and hold the dryer so that the air stream follows the direction of hair growth

Which Haircut is Right for Curly Hair?

Cutting your hair regularly is just as important as caring for it daily. It is therefore best to let a professional cut your curly hair. Of course, the end result depends largely on the natural predispositions of the hair and even the best hair stylist may not be able to recreate the look you see in your photos

A big influence is how natural the hair is, how thick the curls are, and most importantly what kind of twist it is. Therefore, there is no need to look for hairstyles in the catalog, and rely on the experience of the stylist

The specialist will know how to cut the curls and get the best effect. He will also advise what cuts you should choose for your face shape and show you how you should style your hairstyle. However, there is no universal type of haircut for curly hair. There are also no contraindications for you to wear a certain type of hairstyle. You can successfully have a short hairstyle if you feel like it. Then keep in mind that the more your hair is layered, the more volume it will gain.
